Barn Worker

Promise Landing Farm is ready to add another person to our horse care team our Nanjemoy location. We’re looking for people who take pride in healthy horses and a well-kept barn. Are you looking for a part-time job taking care of horses? Does a row of clean stalls make you smile? This might be the job for you!

a typical AM shift in nanjemoy includes…

  • Feeding and turning out horses and a handful of other farm animals

  • Checking paddocks for hazards, filling paddock water troughs, and throwing hay in the paddocks

  • Mucking stalls, scrubbing water buckets, setting hay, and sweeping the barn aisle

Other things you might do in this role:

  • Administer medications or apply treatments to injuries

  • Give basic equine first aid

  • Work with or parallel to volunteers helping in the barn

  • Participate with pasture maintenance like manure spreading and mowing

We are particularly looking for people to work AM shifts, though there may be opportunities to pick up additional shifts or duties. The compensation for this position is $15/hour, with a minimum of $30/shift. This is a part-time non-exempt position. A criminal background check is required.

There is the opportunity to grow this into a full-time role for someone interested in teaching and pursuing their PATH Intl CTRI.
